Toxicology
Educational didactics are delivered by our Medical Toxicologist, Dr. Kartik Shah, covering the breadth of topics in the Model of the Clinical Practice of Emergency Medicine.
In line with the philosophy of the Foundations of EM program used for the overall residency didactics, key principles used include flipped classroom, learning pathways, and differentiated meetings to provide longitudinal content throughout the three years of residency.
Simulation
Dr. Sidhant Nagrani serves as our Director of Simulation. He and other staff members in the simulation lab are actively involved in educating trainees, APPs and GEDS physicians a using case-based instruction on mannequins to simulate actual patient encounters. These training opportunities allow learners to practice critical decision making in a controlled and observed environment with real time feedback.
Morbidity & Mortality Conferences
Each month, GEDS physicians gather to review challenging cases as part of our objective for continuous medical education. The goals of these conferences are to provide a confidential, judgment-free arena for open discourse. They are not meant to be punitive, but to prevent and reduce errors and complications.
Medical College of Georgia
GEDS physicians also serve as Clinical Assistant Professors within the Department of Emergency Medicine in Augusta.
