Emergency Observation Unit

At GEDS, our Emergency Observation Unit is one of the most active in the Southeast, managing the care of over 15,000 patients annually across our two campuses, which feature a total of 36 beds.

Our highly skilled team utilizes over 35 specialized protocols to provide focused care for a variety of conditions, including:

  • Abdominal Pain
  • Allergic Reactions
  • Asthma/COPD Exacerbation
  • Chest Pain
  • COVID-19
  • Dehydration/Gastroenteritis
  • Renal Colic
  • Syncope
  • Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA)

Behavioral Health Observation

  • Our Advanced Practice Providers manage care for our behavioral health patients in conjunction with intake specialists and psychiatrists. Ownership of these patients allows for more efficient and safer care.

Pediatric Observation

  • We’ve expanded care for children in our community under the leadership of our Pediatric Emergency Medicine trained physicians.
