Alexander Benz was born in Offenbach, Germany. A board-certified Emergency Physician, he has spent the past eight years serving the North Georgia community after beginning his career in Alabama. Dr. Benz is responsible for the emergent care of patients and is currently an attending physician at multiple Northeast Georgia Health System sites, including Gainesville, Braselton, Barrow, and Lumpkin. He also serves on several hospital committees and is the Medical Director of Dawsonville Rescue, providing ambulance services to Dawson County.

Dr. Benz's interest in medicine began early in life. He graduated from the University of Rochester in New York and went on to attend Albany Medical College. He completed a Family Medicine residency at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, where his strong performance in the emergency medicine rotation inspired him to pursue a specialized residency in Emergency Medicine at Detroit Receiving Hospital in Michigan. After completing his training, he began his emergency medicine career at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama.

Known for his interpersonal skills and compassionate care, Dr. Benz is fluent in multiple languages, which enhances his ability to connect with patients from diverse backgrounds. Outside of medicine, he enjoys farming and has developed a deep appreciation for the North Georgia region he serves.
